I went into a local pawn shop, as I usually do during the middle of every month, just to see if I can't find a bargain... The guy has a black box sittin out on the counter, so being nosy I opened it up, and found a lot of mexican, and south americas coinage, the majority of these coins are 20 centavos pieces from the 1940's and 50's, while there are a couple in the 1800's, just various denominations and such, the most recent coin is from 1971 , pretty much 100 of them are pre 1960, all are in very good shape, the total of this lot is 135 coins in all, I paid 8.00 for them all, they obviously had just arrived not too long ago, I'm not even sure the guy looked into the box but maybe 5 seconds when I made him an offer.... I paid under .10 a piece, was this a good deal for these types of coins? I'm not too big on this foreign stuff, but, i'm pretty sure it will be a neat find for my grandkids when they figure out where grandpa hid his safe with all his valuables
Kind of hard to go wrong at 10 cents a piece. Even if you over-payed, you can flip them and give them away as tips. A fantastic way to make friends. Put an address label on it with your name and phone number or ebay store or some way to let people know who you are.
GD, I have to admit, i'm kind of taking a liking to these darkside coins, so far though, the only ones that truely strike me as nice looking, or neat... Is the Maria Theresa Thaler coin, the mexican 20 centavos pre 1960 I guess is when they were made.... And ummm, ohhh this neat little coin that I found in this groub, it kind of resembles our 3 cent silver piece, but, it's blueish looking, from hondorus.
Yup - sounds to me like - another one down, and another one down .....another one bites the dust !! You need to chat with WINS7 Penny - he's the man when it comes to the MTT
