I am looking to get made for myself a pinky ring. I am not too fond of gold on myself, so I was thinking a silver coin would be fitting. Does anyone have any coins they would recommend for such an endeavour. I am doing this to create a jewelery set I can wear/carry. It will include an ASE bezeled on a chain, and cufflinks, which I am also looking for ideas on. Maybe even a good design half to put on a money clip. Any suggestions?
Walking Liberty, of course. Perhaps you could use one of those "tribute" proof-like replicas of a '21 that are all over EBay. Using one of those on a money clip would (a) preserve another real one for someone's collection and (b) not be an obvious fake to anyone but a WL collector, as the Hobby Protection Act markings are on the reverse and would be concealed by the clip.
Stop messing around and go Platinum.... You can get A.P.E.s in Various sizes.... If you don't mind, post up pics of this when you get it all made.... I would really like to check it out... I almost did a gold A.G.E. on a necklace, but I was afraid I'd look like a Pimp or Disco dude from the early 70s or whenever that was the thing..
if you could find a nice set of like 5 pfennig coins from Germany in UNC they would look nice as a set of cuff links. the eagle on one side would look really sharp. try like anywere from 1901-1922 i think it would look nice. =)
As much as I would LOVE to do that, my poor college student budget couldn't afford the platinum to set all of this in. ::sigh:: maybe one day. I like the following idea, after talking with some friend. Either a complete Seated set -Dime for pinky ring -Quarter for cufflinks -Half for necklace or A varying set -Seated or Merc Dime for pinky ring -Buffalo Nickels for cufflinks -Walking Half for necklace. I was gonna incorporate Standing quarters in there, but I can't think where they would fit. Whadya think?
