I collect Peru 1/2 Dineros on a professional level. ALWAYS looking to better a coin I have and ALWAYS looking for the rare example too. I'm finding that some of the documented varieties in this series can be harder to find than the known expensive ones. I'm also looking at collecting Peruvian medals and proofs. If you have any to assist me let me know. Thanks

Don't collect those half dinero coins, but that American Congress medal looks interesting. Very detailed. How big (diameter) is that piece?

Hi Christian, the medal seems enlarged because it is but I would say its about a US dollar size. I bought the medal because of the initials RB. His name was Robert Britten from Birmingham UK. He went to Peru in 1858 at the tender age of 25 to be an engraver for the country and he took his wife with him. Anyways, I am writing a book about the 1/2 Dineros from who designed them (there were changes) and who were the assayers. My future book on the 1/2 Dineros will be printed in English and Spanish collectively. Lastly, the medal appears to have been circulated a bit somehow, there are words on the open book to the right and under magnification on my laptop I can only read one word, Ley which means law. You will notice an 1800's train on the left. It is understood that Robert Britten designed stamps with trains in the 1800's for Peru too. He engraved other items for the nation as well. Thanks for asking. Errol P.S. I have no way to measure the medal.
