Hey, all! I have an item that I'm really curious about. I got this back... many years ago at a charity "book sale". I doubt I paid more than $10 for it... It's a nice wooden box with a metal SS Republic plaque on the top. Inside, is a spot for maybe a booklet or CD (which was not in there when I bought this), and a "Limited Edition Silver Metal" depicting an 1861 Seated Liberty half dollar on the obverse, and an ad for the Silver War Gold-The SS Republic Story PBS show on the reverse. This is in an NGC slab. Anybody know anything about this? What it is, what's missing, what's it worth (even though it's NOT for sale!).

It does say 'silver medal' not metal and 'Civil War Gold' not Silver War Gold. This makes more sense.

I can't see it would have any value apart from its metal value if it is silver.

Yeah, that's what I get for messaging after midnight... Don't judge me on my typing (I *think* I got everything in this response spelled right!)

I found one on eBay, item #301497927328, offered Buy It Now for $39.95 plus $3.95 postage. Not clear if a wooden box is included.

Still, worth far more than $10

I remember when PBS ran this documentary. Maybe it would be possible to obtain the DVD from PBS.

I've looked on Ebay, and the collector boxes with real coins show a CD in the packaging. Not sure if this promo kit had the CD and it was lost before I got it, or if it did not include it. I'll have to keep watch on that ebay auction. It's only worth the $39.95 if someone actually bids on it. :) Since I don't have plans to sell it, I guess I don't really need the CD to complete the packaging. If I ever decide to sell, it would probably bring a little more money if it were complete. The presentation box might be worth a bit to someone having one of the shipwreck coins for display purposes. There's no indication on the slab what the silver content is within the silver medal (I spelled it right that time!).
