I have the "Photograde" book for grading coins which only goes up to AU grade, are there any that go up to MS 70. I know that MS grade coins really need to be seen in hand as opposed to a picture, but I cannot afford to buy every MS grade coin to have as a reference. I am not one to just collect a certain series, I buy and collect whatever strikes me at the moment. Even with photograde the pictures are black and white is there a grading book in color?
I have both Photograde, and ANA Grading Standards, and I find myself using the ANA book much more. The pictures are better, and it does contain a written description of how to generally grade uncirculated coins. The problem with providing an uncirculated photograde of every series, is that every issue within that series is different. Just wouldn't be practicle. here's couple of interesting links... Scott Travers on Grading Morgan Dollar Unc. Photograde
On the Morgan Dollar UNC Photograde, how is that so many marks are allowed on the face and feilds for such high grade coins? I would have those those areas would not be allowed so amny marks.
Photograde only goes up to MS60 - the lowest of the MS grades. An MS60 coin can be pretty beat up with bag marks and the like.
