I have purchased a proof set Type II. Since the dollar was not Type II, the penny is the one that carries the most weight. What is your guess on grade? I am think PR65 and maybe PR66, but I know not pennies. Thoughts?
The haziness limits this to 65 in my opinion. That should be a really easy fix though, in which case this could be a 66 or 67 (or higher). It also appears to be DCAM, which should be no surprise on a modern proof like this.
I have no idea - will look.... It appears to be on the case...I took some other photos...better camera, still same crappy photographer.... I agree but I think the case is crap also. However there is a haze to it. Is this something that can be dipped off? I know I can with Silver but I am ignorant of how to on copper....this one is worth too much to chance as it is the most valuable of the whole set that I have (No $1 Type 2).
The bit at 8 o'clock looks like a sliver off the red insert that holds the coins. I've seen a few with bits like that, should be able to be carefully removed from the coin if it were to come with it when removing from the case.
I think that sliver is a crack in the case - haze you bet and I know of no way to get rid of that on copper. Was thinking MS-70 solution but not on a coin like that till I try it on another first. I paid $44 for the set, and the penny is what I was after (I know the Kennedy was a bonus but still..)
