What would the estimate retail value of a 1908 half eagle five dollar gold piece rated MS65 by ANA standards? Also, waht would the estimate retail value of 1884-C Morgan rated PCGS MS64 and an 1883-O Morgan rated PCGS MS63, and a Morgan 1884-C MS63? Alos how about 71, 72 & 73 Ike S series rate PR70 by ACC standards?

Thanx...I am familiar with PCGS but not the ACC and ANA. What is the story on these two grading services? Are they as reputable as PCGS, or is PCGS the standard?

I am goin to assume you are interested in buying these coins. If that is the case - then I suggest that you need to do a bit of studying before spending your money. I could easily provide you with approximate values - but what good would that do you ? You wouldn't learn anything.

Let me ask you a question - your screen name is Dell Investor - does it have a literal meaning ? If so - did you just purchase the stock blindly or did you try to learn something about the company first ? It goes the same with coins. Before spending your money - you need to learn.

Take the same amount that you spend on just one of those coins listed above ( with the exception of the ACC slabbed coins - trust me don't buy them ) and you would be able to buy enough books so that you would not have to ask those questions.

But if you are bound and determined to just find out the values - check on ebay for the same coins under the completed listings. Completed Listings

The ANA is the American Numismatic Association - it is not a grading company. ANA
When someone says that a coin has been graded according the ANA standards what they mean is that they supposedly followed the grading standards in the book - Official ANA Grading Standards for United States Coins. But just because someone says they graded the coin this way - does not mean they did. But the book - study it. Then you'll be able to have an idea of if they are telling the truth.

ACC is a grading company - but don't buy coins graded by them until you know how to judge if the coins are correctly graded for yourself. No - they are not a reputable grading company like NGC, PCGS, ANACS or ICG.

And just so you know - I am not trying to avoid answering your questions directly. I am honestly trying to give you the very best advice I, or anyone else, can possibly give you. Knowledge is the key. And while you will need to ask some questions and I will be all to happy to answer them - you also need to learn some things on your own. It is the best way. There is no teacher as good as experience. Hope you understand that.

By the By pal.....I am taking the time to educate myself as I have joined the ANA, loked up where the local club meets, purchased the "Red Book" and the like. I was under the impression that the room was titled "What's it worth?" hence my query to the folks on the board. Yes I was looking at these coins and my red book does not cover the higher rating so I asked a question. Part of education is asking questions even if they same insipid, silly, stupid, moronic and sophmoric to the likes of you.
If this is a site for only the elitist of the numismatic enthusiasts to pose queries please let me know so that I will not bore you or any others with my uneducated questions.

You ever hear the saying - give a man a fish and he has a meal - teach a man to fish and he can feed himself every day. Well I'm trying to help you learn how to fish.

Certainly - I can just answer your questions. But something about you and the way you phrase your questions told me that you wanted to be a collector. So rather than just provide answers - I was trying to show you how you could find the answers for yourself. I did provide a link to where you could get the most accurate values you can. Now if that is being elitist - then I apologize. I thought I was being helpful. Or did you miss my last paragraph ?

The ACC is great in basketball and football...but for coin grading, they are very suspect.

ACC and ANA standards in the same sentence is like oil and water.
