Don't know much about large cents - but I like the design and have about 40 of them - maybe should go through them to see if any are worth a premium - even though I don't sell - I just hoard!! :)

Oh heck - I don't want to beat anybody I just have collected them since 1985 - that's only a couple per year if my math is correct - nothing like commom core math!!!

Bad pic but I think 1/2 cent - my oldest!

Late dates are nearly impossible to identify varieties for with pics, especially poor pics like the ones on the auction page.

I second Cole's comment, and add especially for 1853's. There are just not a lot of easily distinguishing features on 53's. Most of the time, when I can ID a variety from a picture it's because the variety has some unique feature, like a die crack, or date placement, or some other unusual mark. But for 1853's there just are not many easily identifying marks.

All large cents are nice - some just nicer than others. I have a few myself.

Thanks guys. I'm going to the EAC convention in May, I'll probably get someone to attribute it there.

When you get there find Bob Grellman, he wrote the book on the late dates and he does attributions for $1 per coin.

I agree with Conder. Not to mention Bob will probably sit and talk large cents with you forever if he could. Well worth the stop.
