I like the fact that there are so many different kinds of tokens, and they don't cost much. I think I need some more...

Beautiful tokens Siberian Man! In great shape too. I love the idea of upper and lower Canada. I think they were referring to the fact that before roads there was Quebec, and then you had to portage your canoe up to Upper Canada, further up the St. Lawrence.

Here's a jeton, or token from the 1600's that was used in Quebec:

[IMG] I just got a 1/2 penny Bas Canada token from the world coins bin at a coin show. For less than a quarter I got an 1837 token in a lot better shape than this pic. I guess they didn't know what it was, or didn't care. Do you see how fun this Canadian Token thing is?

Nice Tokens!!!!!! Mine are nowhere as nice as those, condition wise. Here's a really interesting one I found yesterday for $5. I found out that Isaac Brock was the hero of Upper Canada in the war of 1812.

He was the inspiration for Brockville, Ontario. They made some great cast iron pots and pans there also.

C'mon, why no more tokens? Here's a cool one:
[IMG] Maybe this is the first use of a maple leaf in a Canadian coin? It's a nice design.

Here is my first canadian token. Looks like it had a bit of cleaning on the bottom of the reverse, but for a 163 yr. old token, I can only hope to look this good at that age ;) 10968309_10205913340581096_4051133963681272919_n.jpg 1450283_10205913346621247_8898625002875375361_n.jpg
