Heavy greaser

 

Not PMD, greased die error. Very cool, a nice example, I had one like that if not worse, no legend was readable, long story short, I lost it somewhere Maybe I will find it some day, along with the 1915d cent in AU I lost. I just found a George V Farthing I lost 2 weeks ago so there is hope!

OK - been wanting to ask WHY they would grease a set of dies - can you explain? Cause nowadays they so called replace the dies after 50,000 strikes/OR IS THAT JUST PROOFS? I don't know and would like to understand.

 

not sure how it happens could be due to cleaning I have this one that is also a grease filler
