Er, yes they were, though in much smaller numbers than in 2000. It was from 2002 on that the demand from the banks essentially ceased and the Mint only made them for the sake of collectors and not for general circulation.

Sackies were released into circulation in 2001. When I get rolls at the bank I usually get 2-3 2001 coins in 25. I've heard stories about bags of later date Sackies showing up at banks but so far I have only found 1 2002 coin in a roll from the bank. Sackie circulation coin mintage figures... 2000......1,286,056,000 2001.......133,407,500 2002.........7,567,610 2003.........6,160,000 The 2007 mintage will be higher than every year except 2000.
