Oh, sorry. I'm horrible at spotting varieties on Morgans. Lol, I thought you posted it to get an opinion on it's grade. Sorry. Take care. Phoenix
I want to know what Ben thinks about the grade of this coin.....but I wouldn't go over AU58 from the photos above. Speedy
In hand eh? I'd say the grade would be Body Bagged (notice the damage on the neck) if I were to send it in for grading. But since I always grade and mount my own coins it's in a BU holder cause there's no visable wear and it's got great cartwheel luster "In Hand." Take care Ben
Nice If it has full luster, I'll bet it is a real beauty in hand. Other than the neck nics it looks amazingly clean. nice one.:thumb:
I would love to see that coin in hand, because the lighting makes grading the coin somewhat difficult. I don't think those marks on the neck would bodybag the coin, as it seems like that is a fairly common spot for marks on a Morgan. Nice looking coin!
(Ah, right thread now)... Here is a little clip of the coin in question. Notice the cartwheel luster on it. Again, I've got it simply graded BU. You have to click on the link. Take Care Ben http://www.jabpublish.com/MVC-001V.MPG
Bone I can't see the other photos as my internet is too slow but I've outlined in red what I'm seeing....now is that just the photo making it look lighter like wear or is that really how it looks. I've looked at it again and again---and normaly the P mint coins have pretty nice strikes.....but this one doesn't even show the detail on the stars....that seems odd to me :computer: Speedy
The light really washed out the details. Here is an older picture, you can tell by the tell-tale marks. I used a lamp-shade and 100 watt bulb on this one. I'm not fussing about the grade, never even asked for opinions on it. Just showing a pretty coin
Hey Bone , As I stated on another of your posts , I didn't care for the new photo lighting. These newest pictures are much better and make the details alot easier to see. But , that's just one old man's opinion. Still a very nice coin , Ms63-64 ish. I don't think the hits on the neck are bodybag material.
Thanks for taking a look. The new (Ott-Lite) isn't any good on BU coins, it really works better on worn stuff. The regular lamp works better on uncirculated coinage. Take Care Ben
LOL----yep I know!....but I went back in time and saw that you had posted this coin before...last time there wasn't any replys to the thread. The coin is interesting and the new photos show a whole new look at the coin! Speedy
You want an opinion? It is a very nice Morgan. With the new pics, I go down to a 62/63, even though you didn't ask for a grade lol. It is very nice Bone. :thumb: Phoenix
