I can't answer that, but I would like to ask you a question. If the copper is beneath the nickel outer layer, how could the copper be in flakes? Chris
its just a phrase I heard from other collectors.. in a case like this this one because its showing in so many areas of the coin it could be something else ,possible an alloy mixing error. cheers
I don't know for sure, but I assume these are copper/nickel alloy plated, steel coins. Coins and Canada states the composition as: Alloy: 94.5% steel, 3.5% copper and 2% nickel Weight: 3.95 grams
