Hey all, I just received an email from "ServicePayPal" that was spam or a hack attempt. Message said I had opened a case against a buyer and it listed the buyer's email and instructions on what I needed to do to address the matter. I forwarded it to PayPal and it turns out that my suspicion was correct. Just wanted everyone else to be aware.
Look closely at the email address - it is not "PayPal" it is like "padpal" or "paylpal" or other variations of the word. And If you receive a suspicious email FORWARD it to spoof@paypal.com
I use to get these a lot - I kept forwarding them to paypal. One time I was getting one from the same address for about 2 weeks. What was funny was a couple were from the same address, but different issues. Have not received one in years now. Hope it stays that way.
I used to get them a lot as well, spoofs from ebay as well. But like Mark I haven't received one for years now.
+3 I was getting them all the time a few years back, but one day they just stopped. Had 1 last week though! The subject line read "PP statement".....
When I get an "odd" notification like that, I usually have a look at the message source of the e-mail. In many cases you can tell right away that it is not from the company it pretends to come from. Also, check your PayPal account directly (website, app) if you get an e-mail like that. If the message does not show there, it's extremely likely to be bogus ... Christian
