I have been finding it hard to get rolls of half dollars at my local banks, and I was wondering if alot of people have this problem. I like to seach them and get as many as I can for my collection at face value. I basically do that with every type of coin. Until i have to break down and buy certain dates for more than I need to. Does it depend on the area or do you just have to get lucky and hope someone turns some rolls in?
Alot of the time it depends where you live. Normally, if you own an account there, you can have them order you a box of rolls. A box of half dollar rolls is about $500. Well, hope this helps. Take care. Phoenix
Getting rolls of Kennedy's can be a bit of a crap shoot. I don't know the politics of the banking system, but I don't think any bank is required to carry them. And like Phoenix said, I think you have to order and pay for a whole box if you absolutely must have them. I like the tales of people who have supposedly gone to banks in the really, really rural areas and score rolls that have been sitting there gathering dust for years and years. Keeps us looking Seriously, large banks in large cities <should> have a roll or two.
