This has probably been posted, but I got on the U.S. Mint website today and noticed the addition of subscription offerings for the 2007 W uncirculated silver eagles. I really find these subscriptions convenient considering the time spent trying to order products on their day of release. And I am becoming more and more unable to figure out what's going to sell out quickly and what isn't. Set it and forget it.
Yep it is connvenient... they also have subscriptions for the proof silver eagle, any of the annual proof sets, and you can now sign up for a subscription for the presidential proof sets. Wish they had a subacription for commemoratives lol... it seems harder to get a hold of them, and the online ordering site seems to bog down all the time on the day of issue, except for ones I don't want...
So what is everyones opinion on the mintage of this second year burnished silver eagle. Do we speculate and buy 10, 100, none........ Does anyone have a crystal ball? Anyone related to the Mint Director? I've heard nothing about mint limts. I know the Mint said that they would mint the 2006 W eagles to meet demand, but that wasn't exactly true. And if you'll notice, the mint is asking $21.95 apiece for the 2007s.
They did mint the '06 to demand, for the time frame they could. They'll do the same thing with the '07, but they'll have a whole year instead of 2 months. You can bet the mintage will be up there.
The reverse Proof is the one that is priced outrageously. But if the mint continues with the W unc, you can bet the '06 will be the lowest mintage of the uncs.
It's the burnished uncirculated silver eagle I was referring to on the mints site. I was surprised to see it under the subscription offerings. Up to 2006, you could not buy uncirculated silver eagles directly from the mint unless you were a special authorized buyer. This burnished finish eagle is a new deal for the mint
Ah, thanks. Maybe it's just me, but I don't get what the special appeal is over normal proofs and uncirculated (of the burnished uncirculated in general I mean; of course the appeal for the 2006W specifically is the rarity). I suppose the Mint is offering uncirculated Eagles directly for the sake of trying to improve sales, which I suppose likely it would to some degree, since it would be easier and more conveneint to acquire them. Not that it's that hard otherwise... I just went to my local coin shop to get a 2007 uncirculated eagle, no shipping charge and no waiting.
I'm down for three each Proof and Unc, I wonder if I should get a few more???? I always get atleast three... One for my daughter, one for me and one incase one get damaged or something...
Well glad to hear that, as no offense was intended. It's just that I have no idea who you are or where you get your information, and as such not willing to just accept any information you provide as 100% authoritative purely on your say-so, though I still appreciate your information and advice. I'll just leave it at that.
Personally I like the idea of getting them from the mint. If you live out in the sticks like I do , it is tuff to go to a dealer and buy them . With the mint, you are getting them for what the dealers pay plus a little shipping. I like that. The last order I got from the mint went USPS and as far as i can tell there was not a shipping charge. So for one time I can not complain. Annual subscriptions would seem to be a great idea. It would give the mint an idea of the number that they will need to produce and not be faced with an end of the year Delima. At least get a large percentage of their orders will be accounted for and ready to move. The next biggie , in my humble opinion may be the platinum anniversary set depending on the mintage. Please do not shoot me that is just what I am looking at right now. Well that and a few other. Anyhow , I am probably wrong but I can see the platinum sets doing much like anniversary gold sets last year. Would be nice to get a pre order in on these instead of waiting for the starting gun. It is a lot of great information in here. So much that I have decided to drop my magazine subscription. It is greatly appreciated.
