The biggest one is a Mehmed Resad 1327/1336 AH or 1909/1918 coin. It is a 1 Mecidiye or 20 Qurush coin. It is 37mm and 24 grams and its silver content is 0.83. The coin is from the regnal year 8. The second one has the same date (1327/1336 AH or 1909/1918) and the same empeer name (Mehmed Resad)but there are many diffrent things from the first one : 1-the design is very different . 2-The coin is from the regnal year 4.(here the problem). 3-the obverse has the famous three words of france(Liberty -egality-justice). The question: is one of these coins a fake? Images of the coins*** http://up.eqla3.com/upimg/show.php?id=5342 http://up.eqla3.com/upimg/show.php?id=5343
The smaller copper-nickel 27 millimeters 40 para coin is Turkey, KM-766, while the larger is a Turkish 20 kurush, KM-772 with the el-Ghazi mark, not Reshat as is on the 40 para, to the right of the toughra. I assume, to account for the 10mm actual difference in diameters, that these coins were not originally pictured together but separate pictures have been placed side by side. They both appear genuine.
You're right...The bigest one is from Abdulhamid 2 era who was the empire between 1876-1909AD..Reshat was the ruler between 1909-1918AD(the small coin). But still there is a problem ...the two coins hve the same date (1327AH-1909AD).The big one is from the regnal year 8(WHICH MEANS 1884AD(1876+8)) which is not the same date written on the coin. The small one is from regnal year 4(WHICH MEANS 1913AD(1909+4)) which is not the same date written on the coin.
They both have the reign date of 1327 meaning that they are both from the reign of Muhammad V (1327-1336). If they were from the reign of Abdul Hamid (1293-1327) they would have the reign date of 1293. So, there are only 4 years difference between the age of the two coins: 1327 (1909) + 4 (=1913AD) and 1327 + 8 (=1917AD).
Right. The date on the coin is of the beginning of each reign while the regnal number is the year of that reign.
