I went to the convenient store.. NOTE: Convenient. Anyways I needed some coca-cola. I put the twelve pack on the counter like I was a bad ass and noticed two tellers trying to open a plastic tube. I asked them what they were doing because I saw shiny pennies. They told me the store didn't have a machine to open them. I told her they weren't meant to be open and what they were. I offered $2 for them. BU 1958Ds. 50 of em but they damaged one trying to open the M. Meghrig & Sons capsule. I had to finish the process. Not worth a whole lot but none the less a great find.
Awesome, do they have any other coins hidden in their drawers? (Pun unintended, sorry for the awkward mental image)
Nope. I asked them and they said a guy brought it in with a bunch of other change. He must have been desperate for something. They said the other change was just regular but then again they had no idea what those pennies were. I think because they looked new that they just assumed they were. BTW these were young girls probably around 20.
Nice! What do you plan to do with them? Personally, I'd cherry pick the best 4-5 of them for grade and possibly varieties and donate the rest to a local coin club to give away to YNs.
Well I sell on ebay and when I get stuff like this I'll randomly give them to my buyers as a thank you gift but that is a good suggestion. I might just do that.
