Its your favorite host w the most, back with a new and exciting thread topic...picked this up today for $6.50 with a free holder i havent seen b4... ive been on a huge budget as of late and was enamored to score this one But how excited SHOULD i get? Sound off and tell me if i need a new hobby or if i am like the 20/20 hawkeye cherry picker of a lifetime!! P.S. even those lurking may vote in said poll!!
I think it's alright. For &6.50 I think you did pretty well. I've been seeing a lot of those types of holders lately. Not sure if they're new or if they're just all of a sudden coming out of the woodwork.
I must be missing something. What makes it the "cherry pick of a lifetime"? It is a nice silver Kennedy half, but all 1964 Kennedy's were.
It was a joke... ive learned that some dont always get sarcasm, satire or long division 4 that matter... its 2 different ends of the.spectrum: i need to either find a new hobby or holy crap you could retire off of this 1 coin!!! Obviously noone ever retired off of a kennedy! I know i know.. i need not quit my dayjob and become a comedian anytime soon... maybe you should change your name to robot... J/K i couldnt resist!!
Damn - this is great - you mean I missed your sarcasm for the last few days? I think I have to follow you to see if you are up to par with the rest of us sarcastic threaders!!!!
No but its going to become a duck hunt if you dont get out of my cross hairs!!! Huh? Huh? Hows that for a zinger??
You paid roughly melt for it, so I like that part. I'm not a fan in general of the splotchy peripheral toning, but my wild guess of a grade would be at least 63 based on your pics. In any case, you did well.
For the price paid, I think you did well. I can't really judge the luster on the coin from your pictures. The rainbow toning is neat. I'm not a collector of this series, so I voted "meh, it's OK I guess". BTW, sarcasm is difficult to grasp on a message board. The more you participate here, the easier it will be for us to understand your tone/sarcasm. I'm a fan of sarcasm!
You got a good deal, I paid $15 each at my coin shop. Though a year later I ended up finding '64p and '64d x2 (BU condition) in one box of halves for face.
To me, this is the sort of Kennedy that is hard to photograph and ends up looking "meh" in many photos. However, if this was sent to PCGS for their TrueView service, and you did a new thread asking the same question, most everyone would think this coin was a different coin, and would be loving the coin. I have two Kennedy's like this. My photos make the coin look worse than reality, and PCGS photos make them look too good, except under the most ideal light and angle. I think the toning on your coin would really POP similarly in their photos. The truth is somewhere in the middle. 1964: 1969:
You have inspired me to take new photos and test out your theory..... also to compare my coin to yours...... Now whaddya think?? In hand the color really pops
I like the later pics better, but it's still not my kind of coin. Not that I would have turned it down for $6.50 though.
