Went to the Safeway (grocery store) deli to buy lunch. At the last moment decided to pay with cash. The tab was $7.04. As the clerk gets my change, I hear "tinkling" instead of the usual "clunking". Looked down to see three silver quarters in my hand! The clerks saw me looking at them and said they had a bunch more that someone had paid with. Bought all they had: $5.50 total (even went out to my car for the last dollar's worth). The older of the two clerks (still in her 30's I'd say) even knew that they were silver and worth well over their face value. I'm so STOKED! Rob
Congrats on the score!! You are very very lucky. I had similar experience a few months back! I hope they did not already give any away before they got to you. 32 Walking Halves and a '64 quarter I'm sorry for showing these coins off so much lol.
what? - NOT a "yeah right" or a "you want me to believe that?" Time for the Lawdy cat: https://www.youtube.com/watch?x-yt-ts=1422579428&v=U_iXDhuV9dc&x-yt-cl=85114404
Thanks for all of the good words! I think the oldest one is 1941 and only a couple are 1964. Range from pretty good to fairly worn, but no slicks! Rob
Here's what I got (all in circulated condition, some more than others) 1941 1942 x 2 1944 x 4 1952D 1957D 1958D 1959D 1960D 1961D x 2 1962D x 2 1963D 1964 x 5 1964D
I had one of those moments 5 or so years ago. Bought a coffee with a $5. Got my change and heard the sound of silver. Looked down and saw three silver quarters. Promptly pulled out a $10 and bough more quarters. Walked away with 8-9 silver quarters.
Pretty much the main reason most of my small purchases are cash is to see what I get back in change. I think some days I go buy things just to make change.
