I haven't been able to get on coincommunity forums site for several days now . Anyone know if it's shut down?
Same here, I do not know why though. I thought it was my computer but everything else worked fine. This is what I got when I went on there.
That was my first thought as I have it bookmarked so I tried typing it in Google still unable to get on
I found out by Googling some coin related search and seeing a post on Coin Community on the subject so I clicked on it and saw that it was not working.
Can get to the forum index and read a topic or two but after that the site isn't responsive. Hope that the admins over there are able to solve the problems.
okay so much for being snarky. The whatever that is was a snide comment about Facebook. A DDoS is a Distributed denial of service attack. It means that a bot master somewhere (ie somebody who controls a bunch of computers - often all around the world - and taken over without the knowledge or permission from their owners) [zombie machines] [it could be yours for all we know] has told the whole bunch of them to send a lot of traffic to the server or the ISP for Coin Community. One tiny little command and hundreds or thousands or tens of thousands of computers are stuffing as much traffic as they can up their tiny little dial up pipe, through their DSL or cable modem or even out their 10 gigabit datacenter level internet connection all slamming into the single router or server. It's no surprise that the poor thing just gives up rolls over and dies. It used to be that you moved to a new server with a different address. But that doesn't work if the traffic slamming into your ISP's router is more than it can handle. So today you work with your ISP and they work with their providers to filter the traffic so it never gets to that poor router or server. At best it takes time to get it handled and it worst you sorta hope they give up and go pick on somebody else. best of all? You no longer have to know what you're doing to do a DDoS attack. You can now rent any level of attack for any duration you want. Pick your target & send them a prepaid gift card and wham... somebody's website up and dies.
Since the Coin Community has no military, government or business significance my guess is that the perpetrator has WAY too much time on his hands.
It was working for a while yesterday and this morning early and now it is timing out again. could be teens just randomly picking a site to F with the old folks hopefully they will tire and move on!
