Constantine II AE3. 337-340 AD, Londinium mint. OBV: CONSTANTI-NVS IVN N C, Radiate, draped, cuirassed bust left. REV: BEATA TRANQUILLITAS, Globe on altar inscribed VOT-IS-XX; P-A across fields, three stars above. Mintmark PLON. REF: RIC VII Londinium 216
I don't have this one but tey come with a variety of portrait styles for the young Caesar. Most, including both of mine, abbreviate Tranquillitas.
Like a lot of collectors, I am partial to London minted coins and I have no idea why. They are not the best minted, but they do have a distinctive style. I have one of these as well. CONSTANTINE II AE Follis OBVERSE: CONSTANTI-NVS IVN NC, laureate, draped and cuirassed bust left REVERSE: BEATA TRAN-QVILLITAS, globe on altar inscribed VOT / IS / XX, three stars above, PLON in ex. Struck at London 323-324 AD 2.5g, 19mm RIC VII 284
I agree, Bing. This is my second Londinium coin. I got it for $8 at an auction. Wasn't really in the plans but a Germanicus fell through and I got this one instead. I definitely like it, damage and all. They do have a distinctive engraving style.
I'm pretty sure mine is the non-abbreviated version, although it is kind of difficult to tell with this coin.
Holy schmokes, Gil-galad => you went on a spending-spree, eh? (good job, brother) => Please keep 'em comin'
