I collect old Whitman albums from the 60s. I particuarly like the foreign ones. This is my Panama Type Collection. I'll post a few coins every few days. Please join in and post your Panama coins.
An interesting thing about this album is they list all the coin spaces with the old Yeoman # system. Here are the first couple coins. Y-1 1/2 centisemo 1907 and Y-2 2 1/2 centisemos 1907
Well, I do have a bunch of change from Panama from my last visit, nothing special. But because I traveled there, I decided to google a bit to see what kind of money they use. This has to be the strangest denomination I have heard of, naturally I had to get one.
I just picked up a 1978 proof set with the B/.20 massive silver coin. At 61mm in diameter, before the rise of 5-ounce silver ATB pucks, this was THE biggie in the silver world for many collectors!
Thanks Jello, The coins in the set are all vf-bu, none of those fancy numbers for me. This type set is fairly inexpensive to put together. The 1904 50 centesimos can get a little pricy in higher grades though.
Back when silver was up in $46 /50.00 Range we were getting a few of the Franklin Mint sets. They always sold fast mainly because they had all certs wooden boxes. Folks were selling them to me at spot money. Probably paid more for sets Back when 1st sold.
Thanks Angelo. I've got it several years ago. I like a coins from Central America. Most of them are pretty nice!
