I found this metal Detecting in a creek today and I thought it was a 2.50 gold piece but after looking at some pictures I noticed that all the 2.50 gold pieces had 2 1/2 D at the bottom not like this one that says 2.50 . It is blank on the front. I am not sure what I have any input will be appreciated Thanks
I don't know much about gold but it could be a token of some sort. Perhaps for a business. Or an old counterfeit coin. But someone here will probably know.

Looks like a "spielmark" or "spiel marke" -- German term for play money, typically used as a game token. Designs of U.S. gold coins were often adapted for these.
