I received this in the morning post. Just wanted to run it past you guys and gals, is it OK? I was hoping to find a trident, but I don't know what it is.

I think the trident is there, it's just a bit understruck, worn, or just not well demonstrated in this photo. The thing to the left of the trident is a monogram.

Thanks TIF, under the scope it is difficult to tell. I was hoping that there was dirt on the coin, but it seems to be the surface, so am hoping it is not cast.

Π-A-Λ with EY monogram and trident is Clerk 219. For a more recent listing, see SNG Cop 290. TIF is correct about the placement of the trident. Compare to this coin.

BTW, you can download Clerk at archive.org here. It was published in the 19th-century and is now public domain.

Thanks. So you think that the coin looks genuine?

The style look ok. I don't see any signs of casting. Is there a seam on the edge? Or signs of filing? What is the weight? These vary from about 2 to 2.4g.

Pishpash => sweet addition (welcome to the Achaean League club ... did your secret decoder-ring also arrive?)

    ;)

Hey, I'm certainly not the go-to guy when it comes to spotting fakes, or really when it comes to anything about ancient coins, but "I like it" ...

=> here is my example for comparison ...

Apparently you chose the brown-version (I stuck with the basic grey model)

Thanks guys. 15mm 2.34g no sign of a seam or filing, so I guess it is OK.

Stevex6, your is lovely. No idea about the decoder ring?

A lovely Greek you have there. I think you lost your trident to a rust die. Great score!
