    Looks like 12 nummi, Sasanian occupation of Alexandria, Khusro II.
    Scarce, and not a type you often run into without knowing what it is. Nice specimen !

    Ummm, I also happen to have an example ...


    Byzatine Empire, Sassanian occupation of Egypt
    AE 12 Nummi / Khusro II

    circa 618-628 AD
    19.66 mm
    8.26 grams
    Obverse: cuirassed bust of Khusro facing, wearing crown with simple cross, star to left, C to right
    Reverse: Cross on globe between I-B, AΔEΣ in exergue
    Reference: DOC 191;SB 855

    There is disagreement as to the exact dating of this piece. Hahn (MIB) thinks that it belongs to the reign of Heraclius, rather than the Sassanian occupation.

    Looking at it stylistically, it ofcourse very well could be. But the sassanian attribution does give the coin an extra hint of oriental mystery, which i don't mind.
    Here number three, so we have a crowd ! A bit rough, but he has seen some fighting in his time.
