NEED HELP IDENTIFYING THIS COIN. IS IT CHINESE? IT IS NOT MAGNETIC. APPEARS TO FEEL AND SMELL LIKE SILVER. IT MEASURES APPROX. 3 1/2 INCHES.

Just curious, how does silver smell???

Go to your local jewelry and ask him to test it, they will usually do it for free. Buy a silver acid tester. Maybe someone can ID for you but I'm clueless.

It's not a coin, but a Chinese fengshui bagua. Don't think it's silver, but there's no way of telling for sure just by seeing a picture.

Thank you all for your fast replies. It is not silver, but possibly silver plated at best. Silver has a unique smell, I am just unsure how to describe it. Thank you all again for the help! Have a wonderful day :shame:

I think it is the tarnish on silver that gives that smell. I know what you mean, silver does have a unique smell.

It is still very interesting, silver or not.

I know something has a unique smell but I don't think it's silver!

It is a Chinese Daoist charm.

For an explanation of its meaning, please see this web page.

Your charm is a modern reproduction.

In place of the "hole" in the center on the side with the long Chinese text, your charm has the Chinese character sha (杀) which means "kill". "Kill" is in reference to the demons.

In place of the "hole" on the reverse side is the yinyang.
