I received this coin a couple of days ago, and have been trying to photograph it ever since. I can't seem to get the color correct and/or the sharpness of the features. This is the best image I could come up with, but the actual color is light brown patina. I've tried in several different light sources. These were the sellers images, but even they do not have the light brown coloring correct: PHILIP I AE30 OBVERSE: AVTOK K M IOVLI FILIPPOC CEB, laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right REVERSE: ANTIOCEWN MHTRO KOLWN D-E S-C, turreted & draped bust of Tyche right, ram leaping right above, star beneath Struck at Antioch, 244-249 AD 30mm, 14g BMC 528
Nice new pickup, Bing. I'll be of no help with the photography, but for me your picture makes the coin look very light brown and gray, whereas the seller's seems dark black and green. My Ram jumping over Tyche's head reverse is from Nisibis, Mesopotamia. I wonder how many cities used this reverse design. JULIA MAMAEA AE28 11.42g, 26.5mm MESOPOTAMIA, Nisibis Circa 222-235 AD O: IOV MAMEA CEBACTH, diademed draped bust right R: CEP KOLO NECIBI MHT, turreted, draped bust of Tyche right, topped by Aries the Ram right with head turned left; in front of chin, a star.
that a great provincial bing. i like how tyche is "counting sheep"...she must be having trouble falling asleep. i have this similar(ish) coin, philip ii and tyche with a few little friends. this is the sellers pic, i had all sorts of trouble getting a decent pic on this as well.
atta-boy, Bing => that's a classic!! (wow, what a nice big sweetie-pie!!) yah, I just happen to have one of those cool Philip I examples as well ... thar she blows!!
my pictures was much worste then yours. I make just right now lightbox hope that will make better images.
