Seems like I need to stay away from the coin shop. Went down there to work on my Dansco album of IHC and found this coin. Side tracked again. :)

I really just wanted to see if these pictures are any better, opinions on both the coin and the pictures. Don't worry I am not the sensitive type - I think this is a problem free f12 coin. Seems like I have been playing with this darn camera for weeks - today I turned it on, zoomed in and snapped about 10 pictures and I think these are the best I have done. Maybe I am trying to hard.

The coin is great! The pics are out of focus. Does your camera have a macro mode? Are you using a tripod?

Yes - the camera is 5-6 years old. I thought the obverse was decent - on the reverse I think I was moving a little. What I did today was set the camera on my desk, prop the coin against a book - turn macro on, zoom it and start snapping pictures. Then I turned off the flash - I actually think the oberse one came with the flash on. It is an old Olympus 4040 camera - I actually purchased it to take pictures of outdoor soccer games.

Just a thought, but I'd pick up a cheap tripod ($10-$20). Leave the flash off & make sure the coin is brightly lit by other light sources. That's just in general. Sometimes you can do good with a flash. You're right, the obverse is a lot better pic than the reverse it's not a bad pic, but still seems a little fuzzy. Another thing to try if the camera has it is to set up the pic & then use a timer to snap the actual photo.

No timer and I will have to look for a cheap tripod.

Wow. Nice coin. If I may ask, how much did you pay for it? Very nice.

Cool. I think it is a very nice coin. I think if you like the coin, then I don't think you can really overpay on a coin. :thumb:

Looks like nice, original color. I would actually say that the coin is in nice VF condition.

Hard to tell from the pics, but is there any porosity on the surfaces.

Nope - it does not appear to have any porous spots on the surfaces. I think it borders on VF, but does not have enough drapery details. At least from looking at the VF examples on heritage.

Nice cent Mark. Dont worry, you're not the only one thats photo-challenged. I bought a $400 dollar camera a few months ago and cant take a good picture to save my a**. I got some good advise from these guys in here about coin pics but havent got the chance to buy a tripod yet. Maybe I need to read my owners manual. :rolling:
