So what did you get for Christmas?

I got John Wexler's book on 1958 Lincoln Cent's, autographed and two HUGE 3 ring binders filled to the brim on Lincoln Cent varieties since 1909 that my girlfriend printed out, collated and put each page in a sleeve. About 20 lbs. of information. I can't tell you how much this means to me as knowledge means more than anything as opposed to guessing. Hope you all did well and Happy New Year to all.

Roger Waters, David Gilmour, and Nick Mason are alive. Waters and Mason were part of the original lineup (along with Syd Barrett and Richard Wright). Gilmour was brought a couple of years later. Of those five, only Wright and Barrett are dead.

Well, my collection has reached 300 ancient-coins and it is only worth $68,500 ("on paper")

... sure, it's probably only worth $30,000 if I had to get outta Dodge in a hurry!!

=> so yah, I agree with ya Bing ... it is doubtful that I'll be picking-up that sweet ol' First-Edition of Pride and Prejudice for $100,000 (but hey, we can all dream ... right? ... man, wouldn't it be awesome to have that kind of "mad-money")

 

I got a James Taylor presidential $1 cut into a 15 piece puzzle. THANK GOD they didn't buy me the one with the Morgan Dollar; I'd have been rather upset. I'll post photos when we get back home (driving from Washington to Texas)

 

I got The Road, some survival stuff, a breaking bad T-shirt, a Fallout T-shirt, a Rob Zombie CD ( That's kinda like a vinyl )and a few little things

 

Santa was good to me. I got almost a Deric's worth of silver!!! (assuming 12.3 g silver x 15 = 1 gold Deric)

Dont feel bad, I just purchased front row tickets to see Brit Floyd when they come through my area this Spring. I am excited since I was just a little too young to ever get to enjoy the real Pink Floyd live and in person. This will have to do I guess.

 

I was lucky enough to see Pink Floyd "LIVE" in British Columbia's BC Place Dome (1994 ... it's 20 years later and I'm just now coming-down from whatever we took!!)

I can tell you this without going into any detail, I most certainly plan on an 'enhanced' experience that night. I am so freaking excited and its still nearly 4 months away.

SIDE-NOTE => I don't know if you dudes have "Planetariums" where you are, but I think the best light-show (high) I ever experienced was going to the Vancouver Planetarium when they were featuring "Pink Floyd The Wall" (probably 35 years ago? => I was in my late teens) ......... oh my God, higher than hell, reclining in those comfy seats and staring-up at the planetarium experience with The Wall cranked and a lazer-show goin' on ........ I still get goose-bumps!!

 

I didnt know much about Brit Floyb myself, I was told about another quality tribute floyd band or show called The Pink Floyd Experience. They had about 2 shows I may have been able to swing even though they werent nearby at all, but my money wasnt right and then a couple of weeks later I heard the radio announcement for the Brit Floyd show.

I looked them up, heard a demo, saw they sold over a million tickets themselves, so I called up the venue and asked for the best seats in the house. $140 for two seats front and center. I took them in a heart beat and now have two of the first 9 seats in the houses.

I am beyond excited for this.

Oh and from what I have been reading, Brit Floyd is actually a continuation or reformation of another Floyd Tribute band, The Australian Pink Floyd. Im not sure what happened, and why they formed the new band, but they nail the sound really well, and as someone who can never hear the real deal, I will just have to settle for these guys.

 

Pink who???? Now personally, I like the ladies drawers with pink written across the bottom!

 

Pretty dang good and a remarkable stage setup for a tribute band! I'd certainly go see them. There are certain phrasing differences with the lead guitar player's style that are slightly different from Gilmour... but he's a master of wringing incredible emotion from even simple notes. Of course, the two solos in Comfortably Numb are arguably the most iconic guitar solos in all of rockdom so it's hard to compete
