With the price of coins and currency these days I was curious to see if any of you had unique methods of
allocating funds? Do any of you work second jobs? Do any of you sell and rebuy?

Just curious as I mentioned...not asking you to divulge any personal information that you are not willing to share!

For me, I take 1/3 of my allocated funds for my Roth IRA and put it into coins/paper.
I also take 85% of all sales commissons and buy the higher priced items that come along or the much needed keys...and you??

No budget - what ever I have left after paying bills I can spend on what I like. I put so much aside for a new car and so much for vacation. I used to send it into a stock account, but that was not fun. I only start collecting Large Cents, Shield Nickels and IHC since 2001. I know I will complete my IHC, but probably not the other two. I have more fun with this. :)

My tax refund is my only source for coins purchases. Although, I might take out a home eqity loan in August to fund a couple sets of the Platinum Anniversary sets. I hope to flip them to maximize the potential profit and go from there.

For me, I like to roll search cents a lot and once I find duplicates of things I already have, especially varieties, I sell them to buy something I want. It's not a fast process, but for me it's the journey, not the destination.

2nd job (coaching HS soccer team) pays for most of my coins. if opportunity presents itself to be able to flip coins for a profit, I'll do that to fund more purchases as well.

My fulltime job is as a Network Engineer and after all the bills I can spend about 100-200 at most a month (not week, I wish) on coins or other hobbies (mostly coins this last year or so)...

Then durring the summer, I run a small lawn and landscaping business on the weekends and the money I make with that is allocated like this...

    50% PMs or Savings
    25% Coins
25% Saving to Build a Cabin on a small bit of land we purchased in the country pretty close to a small lake...

The money I make from the lawn business is not alot, but its something extra and the work gets me outdoors where I love it and I get a lot of Excercise that I would not get if it wasn't for that...

I have an endless investment account that I'm allowed to dip into once in a while and I spend about $50 per week on coins from my weekly paycheck.

    One day at a time!

    IndianHead, I agree totally.

Every 10 days or so, I make a point of going to my favorite coin dealer and looking through his circulated coins. Everyone would laugh if I said how much I can afford to spend, but I try to buy a couple coins each time. And you know, after several months of this, it really adds up!

    Good Luck Everyone!

    Hey Bonedigger....
I remember the days when we (as kids) used to put baseball cards into our bike spokes held on by a clothes pin !
I bet I have ruined hundreds if not thousands of $$$$$ in rare baseball cards...

That was in the years 1959 thru 65.....if I had only put them in a storage box!!!

    RickieB

BTW...have any spare Roger Maris cards?? :smile

Man, I know what you mean. I've got a Terry Bradshaw Rookie in MS-9 condition except for the crease, LOL... No, only one Roger Maris card. It's the Topps AL HR leader card when he hit 61 in VF condition. Here are a few AutoGraphed BaseBalls. The 1959 team Signed Yankees ball (left) is in 6ish condition while the Mantle/Koufax (Middle) is Upper Deck Authenticated UDA and probably a 10.

WOW.. How do you say "Nice Balls" without getting laughed at?

    Well Bonedigger...

Those are some nice BASEballs you have there. Very nice indeed!!!

I have a Ted Williams, and Joe D' Maggio baseballs...3 golf balls...Micky Mantle#7, Tiger Woods (on the first Nike ball) and one other David Duval, also Sponsered by Nike. I had him sign the ball for my 2 yr old son at the time (2004) Duestche Bank Open..in Massachusetts

I will try to take some pics later to share with you.

    Great balls of fire!!!!!
