Cape Verde just released these two last month. I got them just today.

 

I don't think I've ever seen a memorial note like this. Sobering and amazing at the same time. How did you come by this one, Dan?

Today's new get is a beat up (don't judge!) Woodchopper that I believe was actually used to chop wood. But, it's a star note, so I decided to grab it. Hey, they can't ALL be winners can they...

 

That color blows me away. Cape Verde had a 1000 escudos note a while back (1992) that had a bird on the front and a grasshopper on the back that was had a pretty design and that I own.

 

Today's new get is a colorful Czech note from 1926 - I really like the color gradient on the front of this note, and the rear engraving is strong and bold. Took me a while to figure out... which side is the front on this thing? Finally got it right...

 

Just got this one back from Grading, and am happy with the results.
This is one of the newest series 2013 $2 Atlanta Star notes.

 

Today's new pickup is a fancy South Carolina obsolete with an odd history of issues. This is the tougher 1866 variety, there was an 1872 variety that I believe was voided by the courts, and an 1873 variety as well. They are almost always cross cut cancelled. Love the color and engraving on these notes...

 

I picked this large size national off a Heritage auction at F.U.N. in Orlando. We lived in Greater Milwaukee in the suburb of West Allis. My son was born there so these will go to him. The Milwaukee note is a date back so that gave it a little more value and appeal.

 

Very pretty note, Mel! I picked up a McKinley note at FUN, too. Mine's from the Philippines, though. I've always liked the look of these -- the back reminds me of a gold certificate (which may have been intentional). So when a dealer offered me one for $10 I jumped at it.

 

Always have liked the Philippines notes, have that one myself, on the lookout for the $100 victory note right now...

Today's new get is a single from Columbia Bank - I'm a big sucker for eagle vignettes (I'm a sucker in general), and I get not only one but TWO on this note! Love an issued note with enough circulation to make you wonder about it's travels...

 

It may have signatures, but it's a fraudulent bank. Looks like it's from an uncut sheet as most of these are.

 

While at the FUN Convention, I was one of the crazy people who stood in line to get a signed bill by our county's Treasurer, Rosa Rios. They had uncirculated one dollar bills you could exchange with you bills for a nice keepsake. I had a nice $100 in my wallet so I asked her to sign that as well. I discovered the cashier stamp when I first was at home photographing them.

 

I was in that line, too!

If the the serial numbers were given out in sequential order, at the most, I was just two people behind you. Since there were several of us talking as we stood in line, we probably spoke to one another and didn't realize it.

 

Well if you liked the last note you'll like this one, another Columbia Bank note this time in the always fun, always quirky $3 denomination. The bank may have been phony, but they made some great notes! Which of course is why I maintain paper currency is so great - they had to make them LOOK valuable, since inherently they were merely printed paper. Well mission accomplished!

 

Let's go ahead and finish off the trinity, shall we? Another good looking Columbia Bank note. If you are going to push notes on a fraudulent bank, you gotta do it in style, and the engraving design here is another winner.
