Did the Mint ever give a final mintage for the 1998-S matte finish Kennedy half? I looked in a recnet Red Book and didn't see a mintage listed.

    Thanks,
    Ernie

My North American coins and prices guide says 62,350. All floating around out there for a price...except my 3, they won't go up for sale until I turn over my collection to the kids. ;)

I hate any mention of these. I got the Mint order form in the mail, knew it would be a rarity, but didn't do anything. Wasn't there also a matte nickel around that time?

I don't even want to know what these go for now.

Yes, I think they were made in 94. The half in MS69 I think goes for around 250-300. Not so sure. The nickel I think goes for between 80 to 120 in MS69. Not so sure on this as well though. Hope this helps a little.

    '97 Matte Nickel

For your info Phoenix, there was a Matte 5 cent included in the '97 Botanic Gardens C & C set, which wasn't ballyhooed very much and there were only 25,000 of the sets! The sets sell for around $230 to $250. range on Ebay!! The other nickel in Matte in the Jefferson C & C set is a lot less rare and those sets are going for around $80 to $100. on Ebay now!!

I bought both SMS Nickels last year for alittle over $100 each....they are both graded SP69 NGC and are NICELY set in my collection.
The 1997 is a pretty low mintage for a mod. coin.

    Matte" Nickels

That was a heck of a buy Speedy, especially on the '97!! I collect all the C&C sets, I think their one of the classiest packages the Mint produces. I'm looking forward to the next one!!
