I have to take pics but will soon but looking for some info. I have found what a believe to be a 1982p copper large date ddo and ddr. Has anyone ever seen or heard of it? It matches with the die scratch marks info I found on a site. There are also ALOT of die clash marks on the coin on both sides I have to take alot of pics for everyone to understand. If anyone has info on another like this please put a link up. Oh I forgot to mention almost ALL the letters are doubled even the date. I am new here so bear with me I am taking all the pics on my phone.
I believe you are seeing a bit of machine doubling. The "2" in the date is quite thin for a large date 1982 cent. Compare it to a normal cent and you will see that the width of the device at the field is the same size.
I would agree with you on some MD but when I upload more you will understand the doubles are rounded as far as the 2 it is a large date it is less defined like the small date
If Im correct, the last example of a ddo/ddr coin was a cent from the 1940's. And it wasn't anything spectacular. If there was are other examples out there, please inform me.
Yea I know and that is why I am dumb founded I am taking it to the coin shop for a better look. But it shows doubling in all the right spots on both sides I had my doubts at first but then I seen the die clashs and its hard to see with the wear but even Lincoln is doubled in the manorial. I still have my doubts but the evidence is there haha
Im not saying its impossible for a new ddo/ddr to be discovered, a lot of coins have been after decades has pass (the 1983 ddr rings a bell) I wish you the best but by the pictures provided, I would be leaning more towards die wear or MD. But it never hurts to find out. I have a small bin of "whats-going-on-here" that I stick my nose into from time to time.
Showing "doubling in all the right spots" Isn't very clarifying as doubling goes. The first thing you said was the die scratch matched. You always look for the doubling first and markers second. Saying things like "the doubles are rounded" isn't helping your cause either. I believe you have some md along with deterioration of the die.
