Very good chance at Cameo if not Deep Cameo. Nice 1967 most likely one struck at Denver. But only the coin knows that.

That's a very nice SMS cameo. I personally feel the reverse will keep it from deep/ultra cameo.

@jello please elaborate more about the Denver SMS connection. I've learned a lot about SMS coins, one of my favorite series and I don't recall hearing about a Denver connection before. Interesting that all the sealed boxes I've ever seen have a San Francisco post mark on them and Rick Tomaska in his Cameo book reports they were minted in San Francisco. This seems to make sense, why would they mint in Denver or Philadelphia, then ship to San Francisco just to ship out to customers all around America?

Agree that it has a strong chance for Cameo. The reverse isn't as strong, but I still think it gets the designation.

Welcome to CT. It's a great place to learn.

The Red Book, indicates that all 1965,1966 & 1967 were minted in Philadelphia.

Download the free book on Google Play Books US Mint record and thefe were coin world got the notes. Philadelphia was overloaded and had have Denver mint help with Kennedy half dollars.
The Book is Free on Google Play Books too..

The Denver connection is similar, at least in my mind, to the S minted ASEs that some people say are different. If you could get a "monster box" of SMS product with the Denver mint marked on it back in the 60s and "certify it" then yea, you could prove it was from Denver. It doesn't seem out of the realm of possibility.

Another similarity would be the world coins we produced for other countries, did ALL of them carry the US mint they were made at. I don't think so. I know that some did, in my limited knowledge of these.

As I said before it all in that US Mint record book 1901 - 1980 @Google play books.
Red book has a lot information but not the records for work load and how it was handled. The End good Bye.

Jello, I wonder if the 60% they're talking about were the coins that were minted for circulation? I can't seem to find the book you reference so I very well could be wrong. Can you post a link?

Oh and btw thx for the quick responses... ireally like this site... the other site i use to belong too would take 3 days to get this many opinions.. ive been banned twice for simply arguing my opinion w facts to back it... they dont seem to like that over there

Yes I believe that would cameo if it were properly treated. If you don't have experience with doing this I would recommend not trying on this coin as it would at least have a slight premium.

Yes i have dabbled with acetone and i have an ultra violet glasses/cd cleaner i picked up
@ brookstone a while back.... works great for gunk but THIS sort of toning is something ive never succesfully removed.... i probably wont fool with it unless someone has a cheap/easy method i could try... i was surprised that these goverment holders of '66 and '67 can actually be opened
