my gut is its fake, but Ive not seen many of these. Someone is claiming to have found it metal detecting, but I am not sure. Any links to known fake dies if it is indeed fake would be useful......
Hmmm? ... well, if it's not fake, then the artist certainly wasn't top-drawer (my rotator-cuff throbs when I look at the reverse!!)
Yes, its the crudity of the reverse, the dodgy arm and the pitting which make me unsure....... didnt know if there were known tribute penny fakes for comparison..?
Search the fake reports on forvm: http://www.forumancientcoins.com/fakes/index.php I wouldnt spend even $20 on it.
It looks fake on both sides. I think I may have found a match on Forgery Network: http://forgerynetwork.com/asset.aspx?id=~x~2seNCjQIIU=
I don't think that's a match. Notice, for example, the difference in the legs of the chair. However, the OP coin looks like a terrible modern forgery.
You are most probably correct, but I'm pretty darn sure this is a fake and I can't find a match in the forgery sites. I wouldn't even think about spending good money on this coin.
I couldn't find a match either but, I agree, the coin posted by YOC is almost certainly a modern forgery.
