What all of you failed to comment on was that the 2015 Eagle was a "First Day of Issue" "FUN Show" special label. That HAS to be worth thousands more than a regular PF70 Eagle, don't ya think? What's even more amazing is how can it be a first day of issue when the proof Eagles were already issued before the show even started? While I send in lots of coins to NGC for grading, I still feel many of these "special" labels are pretty stupid. PCGS is just as guilty and I think if you watch closely you can bag one of the FUN proofs cheaper on eBay. Take for instance that the mint is going to have a "limited number" of the new Marshal coins at the Long Beach show. Will it be another Kennedy mess like Chicago this summer? Have they not learned their lesson from that? Will there be hundreds of homeless in line paid by the big dealers? And of course there will be the special show labels by the TPGs!
Figured I would get some comments. I said slack, not lazy and useless. I also said those with veterans preference and no education. There are a LOT of good veterans (have many in my family), but there also ones who only get the job because of the veteran preference. Many who can't spell, form reasonable sentences, etc. I do not believe you should be able to get bonus points for being a veteran, minority, etc. You should compete based on your skills. Thank you for your service, by the way
I agree, Witten. I am a vet but I got no special treatment for my job...although I am retired now. But just like some regular people in life, I don't like the ones that rely on the fact that they are a "veteran" and expect lots to be handed to them because of that. I don't see airlines offering Korean or Vietnam era vets early boarding or first class seating, I don't see a lot of businesses offering Korean or Vietnam era vets discounts. Yes, on Veterans Day I can eat free at a lot of places, and I do enjoy doing that.
I have no issue with private businesses offering discounts, deals, etc to veterans. I do have an issue when our government discriminates when hiring though. I am the wrong everything for them (white, male, not a vet). I have an issue when private companies do it too. Many good people have been passed up to make sure the "right" person gets a job. Then that person knows they can slack and not get fired. That is part of the reason our government is so screwed up and inefficient.
No, you said the veterans are the ones that do most of the slacking. I am a Vietnam era veteran and never used it to my advantage. Some of the best people I have ever known are the ones I served with and the ones my son served with.
Here is word for word what I said, quoted from my unedited post. I said veterans preference and no education. In other words, ones who got the job due to the "bonus points" being a veteran got them, and not ones who got the job because of skill, experience, etc.
Yes, but I also finished my sentence. You keep forgetting that part The worst coworkers my wife has got the job because the government discriminated. They did not qualify based on experience, education, ability, etc. Being a vet helped get them hired. Some of the BEST co-workers she has are also veterans. I have nothing against vets at all, I am thankful for you and them! But that is why the government cannot get rid of bad workers. They are not hired based on ability alone. That is a fact.
Worth is only a determination of what one values something at. If the population out there collecting coins cares about FIRST STRIKE. or ANA RELEASE or Black Diamond vs Gold Foil... etc. Then they are. They might not always... but right now, its a popular trend that has proven success and longevity in other collectibles!
