So as a few of you have seen I am going through an inherited collection and am finally going through the coin rolls. I have about 40 rolls of quarters, 12 dimes, and a bunch of halfs in a baggie. Any keydates/MintMarks I should be looking for or just assume its all junk silver? Chris
I dunno much about quarters. Have you checked out this website? http://varietyvista.com/Variety Master Listings/washington doubled dies 1963-1964.htm (if you're interested in looking for errors, that is) The Roosevelt dime regular-strike ‘key’ dates and their values values in uncirculated grades are: 1949-S ($5 to $8) 1955 ($5 to $8) 1955-D ($5 to $8) 1955-S ($5 to $8) Errors: 1960 doubled-die obverse — proof ($200 to $300) 1963 doubled-die reverse — proof ($200 to $300) 1964-D doubled-die reverse ($100) (reference: http://coins.thefuntimesguide.com/2010/09/roosevelt_dimes.php)
Mainly Quality. The better the quality ( least wear) the larger the premium over spot ( current silver price)
Thanks guys... btw dont get hung up on the 1964 date on the few rolls as I cracked 1 roll open so far and have found some in the 1940s also... I appreciate all the help and love to a newbie
Quick list for your quarters: (In any grade) 1932 D, 1932 S (these are the two keys) (In better condition) 1936 D, 1937 S (Varieties) 1956-64 Type B Reverse (Philadelphia, no MM), 1964 D Type C Reverse, check for super obvious doubling and check all mint marks for RPM or OMM, especially 1934, 1936, 1942-43
