So.. ended up catching the coin bug since I inherited a few things that started the research and eventual fascination. Bought a 2014 ASE roll from my local shop, which he said they dont open or touch. Quickly ran home and set up my table to pop the roll and found some beautiful coins! Now my question is, is there ever any point to get ASE bullion graded?

I wouldn't advise you to get these pieces certified.

It depends! If you are adept at grading, and you KNOW that one would grade MS70, then it might be profitable depending on the date/mm.

However, don't believe everything your local B&M tells you. They, personally, may not have touched them, but it doesn't mean that they didn't submit them for bulk grading before they put the rolls in their inventory for sale.

Some people don't believe that Eagles should be graded because they are just bullion, but if the grading services will grade medals, then why not bullion.

Very cool! I would not certify them, the certification would almost costs more than the coin itself some time

The TPGs live for people who submit modern bullion, and moderns in general. They feed off your fees. They only make a profit because suckers submit this stuff.

If you really want slabbed bullion, buy it that way, it is a lot cheaper.

yes, there is a point to getting ASE bullion graded. With the right coin you can make a lot of money.

But they sold 44 million 2014 bullion ASEs. 54,600 of them were already graded MS70 at PCGS alone. So it's not a good candidate for grading. You've got common bullion; just put it away somewhere.

I believe there are many people collecting graded bullion. I agree with Chris' earlier post: If you can't ensure it'll grade a 70, than it will be a waste. Like Sodude pointed out, in 2014, so many bullion ASE's were minted, it's actually cheaper to buy one already graded.

I know many people look down on this bullion piece, but I like them and collect them. It's not my main focus, but I like having them and I don't really care whether anyone else likes them or not.

If you're serious about the series, buy the book by John Mercanti. It has a lot of information in it.

I wasnt talking specifically about 2014, but just the ASE bullion as a whole since I got some '86ers as well. Couldnt find anything on the forum for this question so I thought id try to get peoples opinions.. Sounded silly when I typed it out but I see the slabs often...

Anything since 2007 isn't worth getting certified. Even at MS70 most can be had for less than $100 which in my opinion isn't worth the cost.

    No, not really.

Unless, of course, you submit them 500 at a time and have a bulk buyer waiting in the wings to snatch up your MS70's at a reasonable profit.

If any of your 1986s is perfect, then it is well worth submitting. But if they don't grade MS70 you'll lose money.
