i buy this as a As coin/ on the dutch forum they say it is a dupondius I dont whye it has not a radiate crown. Emperor Vespasianus mint As mm/10.49 gm Lugdunum: (Lyon mint) Struck: 77-78 AD OBV: Laureate head right. Rev: SC across field/eagle standing facing on globe, head right with wings spread. Ric 764a: BMCRE 848: cohen 482 27
Again, and again, and again, and again ... wow, you newer dudes are relentless with your recent coin-attacks, eh? (I love it!!) Vespasian ... okay, sure (I got one)
Vespasian has dupondii both with and without the radiate crown. The difference is the yellow orichalcum on the dupondii and the red copper on the asses. Some of his asses are larger in diameter than some of the dupondii but they are usually lighter and thinner. The OP coin is a very nice dupondius. Coins with patina are not as easy to separate but my first below is an as while the other two are dupondii.
Very nice! Here's my Vespasian dupondius, with a radiate crown. You can see from its yellow colour, similar to yours, that its material is the orichalcum of a dupondius.
Wow, Z ... I love that coin => oh, and I also love the OP coin (frick, you dudes are awesome ... I need to buy more coins!!)
Thanks, Steve, me too . It looks like it spent its fair share of time in a rough watery neighbourhood, eh.
