Metal Detecting - WLH 1916 - Mint Mark? & 2 New Videos!

You might remember that early 2022 I detected a 1916 S Mint Mark..
Yesterday I dug up a 1916 Winged Liberty Head Dime..
But no Mint Mark


Oh the elusive 1916 D Mint Mark.. Will I ever find it?

Isn't WLH short for Walking Liberty Half?

The poorer I get the richer you get @paddyman98, what's wrong with this picture! Oh well, go with the flow I guess, congrats. Bah-Hum-Bug...

 

In my Metal detecting days I recall digging a 1916 WLH dime face up and after liberating it driving all the way home with it resting on the front seat. (the obverse would grade XF) I did not look at the reverse until I had all that 'magic' time 'what iffing' on the way home. Once I was home I flipped it to find it a Philly mint!

Nice finds. Next up is a 1916-D WLH Dime. Congrats on more silver.

 

A good day metal detecting is better than a great day at work, so you came out ahead, which you usually do.

 

Why not just call it a Mercury Head Dime?

 

Because that's actually just the Nickname.
It is really Lady Liberty with wings on her head and not the god Mercury

 

Yet the widely accepted name is a Mercury Dime. While the use of WLH is most commonly used to describe a Walking Liberty Half. Go figure

...and pennies are actually cents...

 

I remember a thread a few years ago where a newbie actually stated.. How much Mercury does the dime contain? .... Wow
