    Hey Jim C,

I can't wait until the weather warms up enough for you to go out with your detector and post some new stuff for us to look at. When do you think you'll go on your first outting of the year?

Anybody else had a chance to do so this year?

I live in SC. I usually detect between Oct and April. After that it gets too hot and the ground too hard. I've been out about 6-7 times since Xmas. I found a "new" older park in the area I've been trying to hunt out. Nothing too good so far... 2 silver Wash. qtrs (60-d and 64) 1 merc (41) and about a dozen wheaties (all in the 40's) plus the usual handfuls of newer coinage. My dad went with me one time and found a old chinese coin, go figure. I'm going to try and go again this Saturday if the weather holds. 84* and sunny today!

Spring Break started about 2 weeks ago here in Florida, only 2 or 3 more weeks to go before I go to the beach to detect.

It was actually in the sixties borderline seventies on Tues. and Wed. Now it got cold again. I can't wait until summer. Then school is out to, which is a MAJOR bonus lol.

I'vr been thinking about getting a metal detcetor. Any advice on makes and models? I live in Chicago but make frequent visits to my parents in Wisconsin. I would like one that won't break the bank but is still decent.

I too would like some suggestions on a brand or type of metal detector.
I have a reeeeeeeaaaaallly old one that my Grandfather gave me, but I don't know if it works well or not.
The thing is so old, I think it's steam powered.

I use a "Minelab Soveriegn Elite" metal detector. It is a higher end detector I think, but I bought it used from a friend of mine and got it for a decent price. It's a great detector for me though. I don't know what it costs new. Maybe find the web site? I haven't been able to get out much in the last 2 years....bad back, plus a back operation last June. No golf either!! WAAAAA!!! LOLOL Anyways....I hope to get out metal detecting soon....I HOPE!!!

I feel for you, Brother !

I have had a fractured vertabrae, one is porous (deteriorating), and I have arthritus in my spine as well.

I pray for you that your condition improves and you can enjoy life to the fullest.
    :)
