This is an apology to everyone who read my trivia, and to all those who made comments, on the 1908 Double Eagle Gold Pieces, especially you who tried to set me straight about the truth concerning my posting. The only difference in the two varieties of the 1908s is the motto. There were no 1908s with Roman numerals. I went over my source, then went to the data in the Red Book and saw my conclusions are in error. Thanks to all of you for setting me straight so the truth would prevail. Clinker
It's big of you to "make amends" - but hey - no harm, no foul. I don't think anyone was looking for an apology, certainly not I. It's all good !
Clinker: Hey, you provide a lot of great info, and if you didn't make an occassional mistake, then you'd be perfect. Or my wife. :thumb:
Clinker You have nothing to feel foolish about. We all make mistakes, that's how we learn. You take (or have taken) the time to learn something and then are nice enough to share it with the rest of us. I believe we all learn something from your posts and enjoy your presentation of the material. Your material is the end of the lesson but the inspiration to learn more. Keep it up and thanks again for sharing with the rest of us. Best Regards Darryl
Hey Clink - if Doug and I didn't make mistakes, why would we waste space on our hard drives for this icon?
Not a big deal at all. This site, as well as numismatics, is all about learning. I bet that nobody that was involved in this thread will ever forget this material now.....so something was certainly learned. :thumb:
No harm done that I can see. If I counted up all the times I've made a mistake, let's see here, add the two carry the one, hehe, let's not go there! I enjoy your trivia, it is very interesting, hope it won't stop there. Keep it up! Phoenix
OK so you made a mistake so what!! over 99.9999% of your trivia is a bloody good read and acurate  De Orc :kewl: Even if you dont know the difference between English & British  LOL
LOL I promise not to hold it against you too much after all the Mint is in Wales so I supose in reality they are Welsh coins De Orc
If I did it, I couldn't even count that high. In fact, I may have to have Roy find me another foot in mouth icon - I've about worn the other one out
I always find your Trivia very educational and thought-provoking Clinker. Stay in there and pitch. :thumb:
