So I had lots of fun today at the NYINC, bought some coins and then some more. I was trying to stay as long as I could but my stomach won out in the end, had to feed it. :D Here is one of my pick ups.

    Orodes III, Drachm
    100-150 AD.
    AE15.8 , 3.6 g
O: Bust facing with long beard wearing diademed tiara, to right, pellet within crescent above anchor with two bars.
    R: Series of dashes

Will slowly post the rest of my stuff but this will likely be my coin budget for the month. :(

nice on IR, cool little crescent and anchor on the obverse with the facing bust. this is the type of reverse i see most often...the dashes.

Wow icerain, that's a super sweet addition (I've never seen one of those babies ... very cool)

=> fantastic eye-appeal (is that close to the coin's actual colour?) ... yummy

Nice pick up! I have wanted to get a few of these but my study of Nabataeans is already giving me a big enough headache :). Still you never know... If I could find Van't Haaff for a reasonable cost (around $160 seems to be the going price) I would certainly dive in.

Awhile back I saw a bunch of those coins for around $20-$30 in decent grade too.

Van't Haaff goes for $75 new, not $160. Perhaps you are thinking of the Sunrise Collection book, which does come with the heftier pricetag. Of course $75 is not cheap either.

Speaking of Van't Haaff, by his attributions and numbering Icerain's coin is Orodes II, VH 13.3.2-2A

Update: I just saw that Charles Davis has a new Van't Haaff listed at $70.

I see that, thanks Bob. I did a quick search of MA-Shops, Abe books, Amazon etc and they all have it at $160+

Good lord, it would be ridiculous at $160+!

The book is PUBLISHED by CNG, and they have it listed at $75.

Yup, that's the actual color of the coin. No msg added.

Nice examples are still going for around that price. The more rare ones will go for a lot more.

Thanks, I dont have that book so the only thing I have are online resources and that's the information they have.
