Khusro II

    One of the first non roman coins when I got into ancients was a Khusro II but it wasnt the best example. Years later I finally got one I am happy with and got pretty cheap.

    What looks like corrosion or whatever on the cheek is actually hard crust like the reverse at 6 o clock, black inside the beard.

    Not sure the Gobi references for this.

    AR Drachm
    O: Bust of King right, crowned and cuirassed, ribbon over right shoulder, crescent and ribbon over left, stars flanking crown, monogram to left.
    R: Two attendants and fire alter, star and crescent flanking flame.

    nice...that is a very good one. like you, a khusro ii was one of my first non-roman coins...and like you, i didn't get the best example of the type.

    Very nice coin. I plan to get one of those someday when I find a decent one for a good price.

    Year 33, I think, but the mint letters don't match any on my list. I do not claim any skill with this script! I avoid buying these unless I believe I can figure out the mint letters but that is a problem at shows since I don't carry the charts.

    Ummm, I also have quite a sweet Khurso-II example ... but mine is quite a bit different than your new cool coin ...
