Wow, some nice double headers here, guys... and even a four-header! I've not seen the one I have on my want list posted yet, the Trajan denarius with bust of Sol on the reverse. Anyone have that one?
Some RR are nice double headers too. Of course the most popular Mark-Antony & Octavian : Mark Antony and Octavian, Denarius minted in Asia minor c.41 BC M ANT IMP AVG III RPCM BARBAT QP, Bare head of Mark Antony right CAESAR IMP PONT III VIR RPC, Bare head of Octavian right 3.62 gr Ref : HCRI # 243, RCV #1504, Cohen #8 Ex Coll Alain M. But not only. Here are some rarer issues : Julius Caesar and Mark Antony, Denarius minted in 43 BC M ANTO IMP RPC, Head of Mark Antony right, lituus behind him CAESAR DIC, Head of Caesar right, jug behind him 3.76 gr Ref : HCRI # 123, RCV #1465, Cohen #3 Lepidus and Octavian, Denarius minted in Italy, 42 BC LEPIDVS PONT MAX III V R P C, bare head of Lepidus right (NT and MA in monograms) C CAESAR IMPIII VIR R P C, bare head of Octavian right (MP in monogram) 3.78 gr Ref : HCRI # 140, RCV # 1523, Cohen # 2 Mark Antony and Lucius Antonius, Denarius minted in Ephesus in 41 BC M ANT IMP AVG III VIR RPCM NERVA PROQ P, Bare head of Mark Antony right L ANTONIUS COS, Bare head of Lucius Antonius right 3.58 gr Ref : HCRI # 246, RCV #1509, Cohen #2 Q
One of the first dual-portrait coins I acquired was Marc Antony and Cleopatra, a coin that's hard to find in perfect condition: MARC ANTONY & CLEOPATRA AR Denarius (3.59 g.). Mint moving w/M. Antony 32 B.C. (Crawford 543/1) CLEOPATRAE REGINAE REGVM FILIORVM REGVM draped bust of Cleopatra r. Rev. ANTONI ARMENIA DEVICTA head of M. Antony r. Neither portrait is particularly flattering, although Marc Antony rarely appears very attractive on any coins, as this next one illustrates: MARC ANTONY & OCTAVIAN, 42 B.C. AV Aureus (8.12 gm.) Ephesus mint, 41 B.C. (Crawford 517/1) M ANT IMP AVG III VIR R P C M BARBAT Q P Bare head of Marc Antony right. Rev. CAESAR IMP PONT III VIR R P C Bare head of Octavian right. At least there's a consistency in his portraiture on coins.
Wow, Z-Bro => that's a very cool new addition (you have a comforting-taste in coins ... I always like 'em) Oh, and a few of you other dudes have pretty sweet coins as well!! (yummy) I'll have to go see if I have any double-headers (wait a sec) ... => okay, I found a few double-headers (do these count?) Whoah, more cool double headers. Yup, Steve, they definitely count, and all three count as winners too.

All the post are fantastic!! My 'double-header' would be of Antony and Octavian; and of Aurelian and Vabalathus:
Of course, Aurelian, Mikey.... I had completely forgotten this thread. Interesting stuff all around ! Aurelian and Severina, Double sestertius Rome mint AD 274-275 IMP AVRELIANVS AVG, radiate and cuirassed bust of Aurelian right SEVERINA AVG, diademed and draped bust of Severina right, on crescent 11.18 gr Ref : Cohen # 1, RIC # 2, RCV # 11696 Scholars all not agree whether those big chunks are double sestertii or dupondii. One has sometimes to make difficult choices. Based on the average weight and diameter of bronze coins at that period I decided this is a double sestertius. And what the heck, it's a coin....! Vabalathus, Antoninianus minted in Antioch, 8th officina, AD 271-272 VABALATHVS V C R IM D R, Draped, laureate and diademed bust of Vabalathus right IMP C AVRELIANVS AVG, Radiate and cuirassed bust of Aurelianus right.
