    Call it 64, no FBL.

I voted MS64 FBL, applying PCGS's standard that only the bottom lines must be completely separate. PCGS will also allow very slight weakness to the left of the bell crack.

The coin would not FBL at NGC.

    My wild guess: 64 FBL.

Your expertise in this area is renown, but my 'gut' says '66 FBL.

    Probably indigestion.......

63 no way FBL the line is broken dings on obv as well the rev. Nice coin but... no FBL right side of bell huge gouge running through all three lines . Lots of bag marks.

You're applying the NGC standard. The coin is in a PCGS holder. PCGS only considers the bottom lines. I believe CAC also adopts the PCGS definition. I am not sure about ANACS or ICG though.

No I'm implying the Paddy Principle ....Where if the lines are not full Paddy ain't buying it. No matter whom graded it or by who's standards. Just because it's has a label or sticker don't make it right. I don't pay for plastic ,paper or sticker I pay for the specimen . And by my standards this is no way a fbl. It has a major problem that runs through the lines.

I understand better now, and sorry for any confusion. Since the coin was graded, I assumed this was more along the lines of "guess what the TPG called this" rather than a personal grade.

My opinion was not stated to bust on a coin posted by the original poster, I said it was a nice coin. It based on over 50 years of collecting . And yes it is a personal grade as FBL coins carry a premium as do full steps Jefferson nickels. It has been beat to death in this forum as well as many others over TPG results. As grading is subjective and as the result can be the difference of hundreds of dollars in my book and for my money if it's marked FBL or Full Steps there needs to be no questions . Besides I don't believe that there is not one collector in this forum who has not looked at a slabed coin and asked you're kidding me right be it over graded or under graded .

Looks good as a 64, to me. I also think PCGS gave it FBL. When I zoom in I can see complete bell lines all the way up to the crack, even on the lower left set.

According to PCGS standards, yes, this is probably a FBL.

This should be a clear example of why PCGS' "standards" are unacceptable.

Shoot I forgot to update these. I don't have a full slab picture for this one, but it's graded by PCGS as MS65 FBL. Personally I don't think the photos don't do this coin justice for the nice toning it has. However, I do agree with the majority and think it should be in a 64 holder.

I would have said MS64 borderline FBL for PCGS. I've seen plenty in PCGS slabs with this sort of a strike called an FBL, and plenty others not given the FBL.
