    What would you grade it?

Nice! Based on the pictures, I'd agree with BU. MS63 for me. Decent luster, minimal contact marks, pleasing skin. Are you planning to send it to a TPG or leave it raw in your collection?

Do you have an image with more light on the cheek? I'm having a hard time seeing what's going on there. thanks

From the pics posted I'd say MS 63. I think if those two hairline scratches weren't there on the obverse field under Liberty's chin I think it could go 64

Something about this coin just doesn't look right to me. I don't know if it has been very lightly cleaned or if the photos are just making it look odd. I would grade it MS62 if forced to give a grade without an in hand inspection.

Yeah. Im in the 62 shot 63 camp from those pics.

I agree with you, Paul. The lighting has me confused. Notice how it reflects off the flip in the area of 1 o'clock but off the coin in the areas of 3 & 9 o'clock. I don't want to attempt to grade this based on these photos.

Also @pytellc that flip looks like one of the older ones that commonly contained PVC. Is it one that you bought yourself or is it the one the Morgan came in when you bought it?

I've had toned Morgans (slabbed PCGS) that typically grade MS63 - hair above the ear is slightly worn.

Many of those are due to a weak strike. It is very common on New Orleans coins because the adjustment was off.

But they are still slabbed 63? I guess weak strikes are considered in the same grading as worn?

Strike has little to do with lower MS grades. The coin would still be considered uncirculated just limited to 65 or lower. In this case I would call it MS-63.

No. If worn, it should be in the AU grading range.
