+2. he said on the pawn stars show he has a friend at NGC and was on the show to verify that very rare peace dollar.
They have connections at NGC as they have had NGC ' S paper experts on the show before. Wonder what the amount was it took to get him there.... as the old man is asleep, Chumlee is playing video games, and the son in credit card rehab. Got to love the redneck rich.... $$$$! Next guest honey boo boo... hillbilly redneck rich.
Ever wonder why people take money, autographs, civil war items, sports mem, etc.etc. to them to sell when they could get twice or three times on an auction site? Unless you're hocking something you stole for a crack fix I figure most people could wait a week for an auction to end and PayPal to send their money to the bank.
Why would you go to McDonald's to get a burger ? Because you're hungry now,you want it now & you don't want to go through the work or have the time or gumption to make it yourself. How would any Pawn shop ,let alone any coin dealer be in business if the only answer was sell it yourself on ebay.
We should take solace in the fact that Rick is not in the back room grading the "walk-through" specials for NGC. However, we should also note that if NGC hadn't pulled this promotional stunt, it probably would have been PCGS, ANACS or ICG. It's the money game! Chris
Pawn Stars is a show on the History channel. It's actually pretty neat, you learn about a lot of history. The fun part is learning what something is worth - and then watching how little Rick - the owner/star - offers for it.
I don't see how sombodey from NGC can go on the show and tell a different description of his grading practices. I also saw a woman from NGC that was like high up in the company get called in for grading and info about a rare coin Rick had no idea about.
