I feel like something is off about the obverse. Has it been recolored, or is it just awful toning? http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/NzE1WDczNg==/z/zVQAAOSwzrxUrbK-/$_12.JPG
Maybe someone dipped it or something. It also looks like it had a piece of tape over the center of it for a while. Or something like that. But i really don't know
Yeah, looks like someone tried to clean it IMO. I've seen quite a few older cents that have that odd wear around the edges, and 99% were cleaned.
massively cleaned. Unless is it is a extremely rare Sheldon variety or incredibly cheap. I'd avoid it like the plague.
Thanks. It's the s268, which is R3, but the cleaning will bring its value way down. (I haven't bought it yet, this is the eBay sellers picture)
According to the most recent Bill Noyes PennyPrices, a S268 in EAC G-5 condition (think PCGS or NCS VG) without any problems should sell for $25. Based on what I see, I wouldn't offer half that.
